You don't get the flamewar around it or
you just don't get why ppl like it or
you jsut don't get why on earth ppl have to clone mac?
what?

I dont get, why you would want anything to look like mac. I know its a personal preference, but mac is boring in my world.

I use Windows 7, although I am a Linux geek at heart.

The gray all over the place is just not for me.

You had me fooled though. Not that your work is flawed in any way :) (I am NOT being sacastic)

Aaaah, well that's a no-brainer: mac looks good.

In fact, I cannot stand having saturated windows,
I don't want my style to light up like some damn
Christmas tree :D

In short: we are all different.

I had you fooled? ...certainly not my intention.

Fooled as in it looks like Mac OSX :)

I prefer blue to ... gray. But yes, we are all different... thank the deity for that!

Oh! well thx I guess, altho I've
always said I will never create a
1:1 clone :)

I guess you like chromium then eh ;-)
I dunno, I've always liked my windows
grayscale, be it dark or light... but
never saturated.

I guess this is as colorful as my
desktop has gotten [link] :)

Any reference to your desktop?

My desktop is not exciting... just almost standard windows 7 theme. Called Windows 8 simple in strong blue. Wallpaper is of the new BMW Z4 Zagato.

Thx! Not yet tho.... also, the sole purpose of
a file browser is actually not to look good, it's
to work good ;-) With Qt it's no challenge making
apps look good, the challenge is writing good
code :)

Hi Rob!, can i ask something?, how file manager looks in a maximized mode?, it's just curiosity because with that slide panels (awesomeeeeee panels xD) (in both sides) i have curiosity how they look :D

They'd just slide in and become normal widgets
in the window.... if they don't have enough space.

However, there is no "correct" way of doing this...
...read here: [link] ...that's why you'll never
see see drawers in unix.

And well im happy with linux and Vaio xD, so i didnt know that was an OSX feature :D. yeah i see whats the point, maybe in expanded mode this feature can be blocked for that no happen. However i never use filemangers in expanded mode xD lol

expanded mode?

Yes, drawers only existed in mac os...
...now removed there also since they suck.

I just wrote such widgets cause "I just had
to have them
" :)

aaaaah, yeah, well, by design, as you probably read
in the article, there is no right way to do this......

....the absolute worst would be some funky forced resizing
to make room for the drawers.

I assumed that's a heavily modded dolphin file manager since you are using bespin which is built on top of kde. I'm quite surprised this is your own file manager, looks amazing top of the range, I can imagine mac adapting that design(better watch it carefully)lol. Hope you'll release it soon for the rest of us to have a taste :)

Bespin is qt only... now kde deps, so you don't
actually need kde in order to run bespin :)

Thx, glad you think so! Yeah well, it's a long
way to go before I can release it publicly.

Say, is there any way of setting be.shell as its own stand-alone session?
Am loving the bespin engine, it's like nothing I've ever seen before, very sleek and surprisingly well fitting with the kde-plasma workspace. I almost wish this was KDE's default engine instead of oxygen.
Anyways, keep it up... that desktop looks AMAZING!!! Will be watching you :)

Hehe, thx! Well as be.shell uses kde technology
I'd say your best bet is using startkde, since
that starts all the necessary stuff. I know its
a paint using startkde since it takes forever
(cause of IO load) but you have to be rather skilled
to write your own start script.

If you feel lucky you can always make your own
session and call a modified version of startkde.

$ cat /usr/bin/startkde

exactly, hence, no public release yet....
...for a public release you always have to
take into account that users are idiots.

If you intend for an app to work one way,
you can be sure that some users think it
works another and try everything to make
it crash :D
