Hehe, thx! It's actually too close to apple
IMO but I figured I stay with it for as long
until I'm really bored and hope I'm cured from
the clone-mac-disease ;-)

dolphin? ...you mean the file manager? Yeah that's
just some home made crap so there really is no
tutorial on that, sry. Glad you like it tho :)

yup the dolphin drawer. It's just too bad, but I think someday you might share it. I guess.. :) and from now dolphin drawer is my favorite....

Hummm? you did not read my reply?
It's not dolphin... its a home

Trust me, you are better off with whatever kde

This is Kde, right? I wonder, what widget style you use. Is it bespin or smth else?

Yeah it's a kde session yes, widget style is some
home made fork of bespin. Thx!

Oh, that's great! I also like bespin but how do you make that perfect tabs. So, probable it's your own bespin modification. Could you share your bespin fork? Or maybe you have complete ebuild? It'd be great! =)

Heh... well, for starters, I'm only experimenting,
so I'm not uploading anything anywhere... sry.

If you want normal tabs then bespin is not your best bet,
as Thomas has specifically specified that he will not make
normal tabs. ever.

Do you plan to publish your work(I mean bespin changes for tabs)? If no, I wonder how much it took you to write this changes, or how much LOC you changed. Just about.

I really like bespin, but it lacks some important things for me. One of them such beautiful tabs =).

P.S. To be honest with you, I dream about style that looks like Mac

No I have no plans to publish.. it's mostly
my own experimentations not suitable for public.

Well just have a look in tabbing.cpp
Style::drawTabBar(const QStyleOption *option, QPainter *painter, const QWidget *widget) const

and

Style::drawTab(const QStyleOption *option, QPainter *painter, const QWidget *widget) const

and paint what you want, it's not exactly rocket
science :)

By beautiful tabs you mean you want a 1:1 clone
of the mac tabs I guess ;-) That will not happen
in bespin.

P.S. I thought as much.

man, that's one of the think that it's missed on linux and BSD systems, it's even better than the default tweaks and the FMs on the current DEs
hope you change your mind or fix the current issues or what ever and public your work

Hmmm, you are talking about the file manager now?
It's mostly exactly like the existing once so I
don't really see what's so much better?

...if you are talking about the drawers ( the side windows )
then those actually don't work like they are supposed
to, as X11 does not support this kind of thing, so
I doubt if I'll ever upload that code.

crashs or issues? that's don't matter. the paquets on my system is 95% from dailybuild repositories and i love that and i want it to crash. even i'm using ubuntu 13.04 from the 3rd day after the release of 12.10, i added a lot of ppas for more dailybuild libs and apps even xserver, driver, gtk,... and more. So, if your conf break the sys, i have no problem ;)
and about the FM, i mean it's more beautiful and i want to try it

I meant the kind of issues that eats your cat:
makes your computer go into limbo and the only
way to recuperate is to press the "reset" button
on you chassis.

Iffff I thought the public would benefit in any
way from my app, believe me, it would be online.
mmmkay

Good luck with your ubunto tho, I tried it once,
in like -06 or -07 or so... it sucked pretty bad,
and from what I hear, it's only getting worse.
How is your experience with it?

1/ if the issues can break my PC, no matter, it's 7 year old PC and one time i breaked the video card. But, as you want, maybe one day you will public your work, now i'm planning to enable wayland on my sys and try it (still, i don't have any ideo how to do that)
2/ foxing on adding futures to unity more than making it stable was a problem on the last release , this time they will focus on making unity & default apps more light and stable.
there are a lot of interesting futures comming to unity (wich still not very usable right now) before 14.04, hope that they can implement it all

Ic, well on wayland something like drawers
wont even be possible... since the window
has no idea where it is on the screen :)
so you see its not meant to be done
on linux... so to release such code with
some promises of working drawers would
be extremely wrong of me and I wont do it.sry.

Using unity (or anything else from canonical)
I wont either... they don't know shit, they
can't shit and won't shit. Everything they've
done so far is shit. I simply can't wrap my
head around this whole "ubuntu is the
gift from god for linux
" mentality that
is going about. It's quite the opposite.

In a previous deviation you said that you wrote this file manager, can you, please, how you implemented the drawers? It's Qt, GTK+ or something else? Thank you.

Btw, awesome shot!

Yeah I wrote it... or more correctly writing it.
It's written in Qt/C++ :)

There is no concept for X11 (linux window system)
for smth like this so I had to write some questionable
code to get it to do what I want. It is glitchy
and not recommended for use. I doubt if I ever
upload it anywhere.

Thx!

If it's Qt, can you please upload the code only for the drawer, even if you say it's glitchy? I will be very grateful!

it's not that simple.... as I said I had to fiddle
with X11... THAT's the main problem... the drawer
class is based on QDockWidget.

or you at you some time ago there was a
IAmMyLittleSister=true option that made
them aqua colored. I just literally stole
those buttons from a mac shot I found on
google. But don't tell anyone.
